Carpenter Frog Rana virgatipes

Carpenter
Frog (RealAudio sound sample)
The male's advertisement call is a distinctive series of sharp, doubled rapping notes that sound like two carpenters hammering nails slightly out-of-synch: "cu-tuck, cu-tuck, cu-tuck, cu-tuck." Found in coastal plain habitat from Georgia to Delaware. Males call from lakes and ponds in spring and early summer.
